My favorite part of this job is learning about different investing techniques. I’m always reading about new strategies some hedge fund manager is using to generate huge returns. I’ve met with individual investors focusing on fundamental analysis. Sometimes, I get to debate the merits of a strategy with people who use it.

There is something to be said about knowing all you can about the online stock trading game, but then again, just how much advice is there and how much information can you sift through. Implementation depends on the capacity of your human mind, and as mortals living in an imperfect world, there is only so much that can be done by a single person. This article will talk a little more on one aspect on stock trading, and that is the entry and exit position of a trade.

I’m always looking to make more money and increase the returns on my portfolio. I look at every trade, good and bad, and think about how I could put more of the green stuff in my pocket. Ultimately, this is what investing and trading is all about. No doubt you think the same way.

You need to sell your stocks now. I’m not kidding. Right now’s the time to purge some stocks from your portfolio. But here’s the thing, you need to be very selective in what you sell…and what you eventually buy.

So, is the market going to head lower from here? Probably not in the short-term, but it pays to start approaching your investments with more caution.

Remember in times of extreme market volatility it’s important to hold tight to your investment strategy. Don’t panic. Diversify with other investment products and don’t be afraid to hedge part of your portfolio.

This bank rescue bill is meant to unfreeze the markets. Most of “Main Street” misses the point. The problems aren’t in the stock markets, they’re in the credit markets. Credit markets are giant unregulated parts of our financial system.

There’s two ways to judge the direction of the markets. The first is to use some form of technical analysis. The second is to look at the fundamentals of the market. I’ve been looking closely at the market and I think we’re near a bottom.

We all know that the long-term trend of most markets is up. So your goal should be to stay in the game long enough to take advantage of that trend. And the way you reach that goal is by hedging your portfolio in one manner or another.
